A little thing about security when not controlled by you is a bad but funny thing sometimes.

Today mommy went to the web site and hurried and email daddy that we got hacked. Daddy walked me through what to do in order to get the site back up and running. I did what daddy said to do and the site came back up.

Daddy is going to look at a few things so this does not happen again and he may contact the web hosting provider about it as well.

Anyways here is a screenshot for those of you who missed it.

We are going to see if this idea takes off or not with all of our family members. We have added a forums section to our site for everyone to share what is going on in their lives.

There are some areas that the public will not have access to and they hidden unless you are given rights to see them. Some of the areas are Special Announcements, Pictures, Family Discussions and Vacations and Special Events. We will add more areas with input from you later.

There are also public sections that registered members of the site can access such as Coupons, Genealogy, Gift Ideas, Jokes and Recipes.

I thought it would be nice to give everyone the ability to contribute to the site. Hop on over to Our Fourms and register there too. Then send an email to Dave to get your rights granted.

Wow today was full of surprizes for me. Daddy got off work early and picked me up from the baby sitter. It was wierd seeing him and not mommy. Daddy explained that with the park opening this weekend he has to work all weekend so he got off work early today and will spend all day tomorrow with me too.

Daddy took me out so I could get mommy her mother’s day gift. Wow that was tiring. Now I know why daddy let’s mommy do the shopping.. hehehe. When we got home daddy hid mommy’s present real good so she can’t find it. Only he and I know where it is and I’m not telling her where it is either.

Well I am tired now so I am going to take a nap. Chat more with you all later.

Yes we are now on a new server not inside of our house anymore. It all started on Sunday morning. For some reason I woke up at 4am with no alarm clock, which is odd due to Amy and Jace let me sleep in till at least 6:30am or so. Anyways I went down stairs to my office and I noticed that the monitor showed no connection like the server was turned off. I looked at the server and the light was on so I held in the power button and nothing happened. I unplugged the server and powered it back up and it was on for about 5 minutes before I started smelling that beautiful smell of burning electronics.

It turns out the power supply fan died and caused the power supply to overheat and simply die. It was at that moment I had to make a decision. Buy a new one for a server 5 years old and pray nothing else is wrong or simply move the web site to a new hosting provider.

I talked it over with Amy and we decided that we would pay for hosting outside of the house and if I get the server running I will use it for testing applications. If it completely dies then it will go to the PC grave yard.

It was a long process to get the site moved especially since all the data was now gone and there could be no backup and restore. However I did have a copy on another server in a different file format that I could copy and paste to get this back up and running with all the posts as well as I had all of the pictures.

We hate having down time on the site but all should be well now. We ask everyone register on the site so you will have the opportunity to post comments.
